California Peace Officers Association Membership and Training
With a background in business and accounting, Gregory Munks served San Mateo County from 1977 to 2012, rising to the county sheriff. Greg Munks managed security for all jails and courts as the sheriff, including civil enforcement and evictions. He is also is a member of the Domestic Violence Council and served on the California Peace Officers Association board of directors.
Established in 1921, the California Peace Officers Association (CPOA) has over 23,000 members of all ranks coming from the county, municipal, state and federal level law enforcement agencies working across California.
California Peace Officers Association is committed to providing ethical, progressive leadership for the law enforcement community in California through professional development and organizational networking. The association has various committees, each with a pivotal role in making law enforcement better, and members can explore where they can fit.
CPOA provides leadership development through mentoring and training. CPOA seminars offer training to a diverse range of peace officers working in California and other civilian personnel associated with public safety. In 2019–2020, more than 1,500 law enforcement personnel were trained.
